Traveling is a part of our holidays today as it was more than 2000 years ago. We prepare for a journey and also rest before and after the trip. Often rest and preparation seem paradoxical, but like the melodies of the first two songs, "O Come O Come Emanuel" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", they can go hand in hand. The remaining songs are about the travels and anticipate what is at the journey's end.
Angels have become meaningful symbols of hope for many year round. I love their magic, and feel the special love they symbolize. These feelings are intensified at Christmas by twinkling lights, Christmas stories, and of course the music.
Away In a Manger: Three melodies
I know of no other carrol using this many melodies. I am curious about the origins of each one. I play two verses of each. The first is the traditional melody, and the second is my embellishment.
These Christmas songs center around the Eve of Christ's birth. The first is my own composition and the only original piece in this package.
Carrol of the Bells
this Christmas song has always been one of my favorites. I strived to have my version ring out with a renewing energy and intensity.
This final piece brings together many positive strands of the season. By intertwining the melodies of "The First Noel" and "Joy to the World", I hope to bring a special joy to your Christmas.
